WAA SEWER SYSTEM INFORMATION

The Windber Area Authority (WAA) provides sewage treatment service for approximately 5,800 customers in the boroughs of Windber, Paint, Scalp Level and to parts of Paint, Richland and Adams Townships. The current sewage treatment plant was constructed in 1970 and is known as the Ingleside Sewage Treatment Plant. The plant is located in Richland Township near the McNally Bridge on Route 219. The Ingleside STP is a "lagoon system" and is scheduled to be replaced with a Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) treatment plant in 2006.

In addition to the sewage treatment plant, WAA owns and maintains large interceptor sewer lines that transport sewage from the above mentioned munipalities to the plant.
